Misconception About Baldness
Do you think you know all about baldness? However, this current phenomenon is far from revealing all its secrets. We are often the victims of even our prejudices. Evidence? Here are the 10 most common misconceptions about baldness.
1- Baldness is a male story.
This is a very common and largely contradictory myth today. Anyone, male or female, can get alopecia (the learned name for baldness). The reasons? They can be genetic, environmental or medical.
2– Cut your hair regularly: a solution to baldness.
This is a particularly powerful idea. Unfortunately, your hair will not grow any better or longer. At best, a short haircut will give you the illusion that they’re healthier!
3- Brushing the hair too much causes baldness.
Nothing less sure! Dead hair remains on the brush while brushing. Therefore it has nothing to do with alopecia!
4- As we get older, we become less prone to baldness.
Another legend! When baldness begins, nothing can stop it. At best, aging slows it down. It will develop in attacks with acceleration and deceleration phases, but it cannot be reversed unless you decide to have a hair transplant. This is currently the most effective way to fix this problem.
5- Hair loss depends on excess testosterone.
There is no link between excess testosterone and alopecia. In fact, it is the excessive sensitivity of the hair follicle to this hormone that is responsible for hair loss.
6- When you lose your hair, it is irreversible.
Another legend! There are several types of alopecia. Some do not destroy the hairline and allow regrowth. Others destroy this root. The solution will then be hair transplantation.
7- Hair loss is inevitable in cancer.
Nothing is more wrong. Everything will depend on your hair and the medications you will be prescribed. Doctors have a number of techniques in place, such as a cooled helmet, to protect you from alopecia that is usually badly seen during chemotherapy.
8- Women can also have a tone.
While women can suffer from baldness, they don’t lose their hair like men do. The loss is usually less noticeable and more scattered across the top of the skull.
9- Hair loss is not a matter of age.
This claim is true. You can lose your hair at any age for various reasons.
10- I am losing my hair due to stress.
This is partially true. An imbalanced lifestyle can accelerate hair loss. However, stress is not the determining factor in hair loss.
