FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT
The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method is applied by stripping and planting the hair in the canals on the bald patch under local anesthesia. It has been implemented since 2004 and is still under development due to its openness to innovation.
With FUE harvesting, individual follicular units (called grafts) containing 2 to 3 hairs are removed from the “donor area” with tiny staples consisting of very small micro blades or fine needles with a diameter of 0.7 mm to 1.0 mm. Grafts will be transplanted into targeted areas. How many grafts the patient will need is determined by the surgeon during the preoperative examination.
HOW IS HAIR TRANSPLANTATION PERFORMED WITH FUE METHOD?
The first step of treatment is preparation for the operation. It takes about an hour to prepare the patient. Photographs of the patient are taken; Hair shorter than 1 millimeter is shed and the targeted area is determined with local anesthesia in the donor area.
Hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and this process takes approximately 2-3 hours. The extracted roots are immersed in a special solution of +4 or +10 degrees. The targeted planting area is numbed and the channels where the hair follicles will be placed are opened with the help of special grooving cutters. Open channels are filled with hair follicles. The entire operation takes 6-9 hours.
DOES HAIR TRANSPLANTATION WITH FUE METHOD CAUSE PAIN?
After the operation, the donor area is wrapped with a bandage. This bandage will be removed in a few days. Pain killers for possible mild pain and antibiotics for possible infections are prescribed after surgery. In this way, you will not have a painful process.
HOW LONG DOES HAIR GROWTH TAKE AFTER SURGERY?
Transplanted hair follicles become stronger one week after surgery. During this week, the patient should carefully wash their head to remove crusts. The transplanted hair grows for two or three weeks and then falls out. Planted follicles remain in place. After a week, the hair starts to grow again. The hair in the frontal area will grow in 6 or 8 months, and the hair in the upper region in 8 or 12 months.
IS THERE A SCAR AFTER HAIR TRANSPLANTATION WITH FUE METHOD?
After this surgery, scars smaller than 1 millimeter and bald spots may occur in the donor area. These spots will be invisible when the surrounding hair grows. For this reason, hair transplantation with FUE method does not leave any visible marks.
WHAT SHOULD THE PATIENT AVOID BEFORE HAIR TRANSPLANTATION WITH THE FUE METHOD?
Hair transplantation requires a recovery period, therefore; You must take seven or ten days off in advance. Before the surgery, blood thinners, antidepressant pills, pain relievers, vitamin E and multivitamins containing vitamin B should not be taken. You should not drink alcohol three days before the operation.
WHAT SHOULD THE PATIENT AVOID AFTER HAIR TRANSPLANTATION WITH THE FUE METHOD?
The patient should protect the transplantation area for 7-10 days after surgery. The bandage worn after the operation will be removed on the first or second postoperative day. Hair should be washed daily and your surgeon will give you information about the washing method. On the seventh day, scabs will be removed from your scalp. For better results from the surgery, it is important to avoid swimming in the pool or the sea and visiting the tanning booth.
WHO CAN GET THIS TREATMENT?
Any individual who does not have a serious health problem can receive this treatment. The type of hair loss, your hair analysis and donor site analysis will be done by your surgeon to determine your eligibility for this treatment.
